Logarithmic Laws

Logarithmic laws follow directly from exponential laws. Flip the card to learn more.

The Richter scale (used to measure earthquakes) is logarithmic.

This means that each increase by 1 is equal to 10 times more powerful shaking.

So, a magnitude 6 earthquake shakes the ground 10 times more than a 5.
A magnitude 7 is 100 times more powerful than a 5!

It’s a groundbreaking concept! 🌍💥
